Regional Science Centre, Bhopal

The Regional Science Centre is Bhopal’s best rainy-day, restless-kid, “let’s-actually-touch-things” museum. Perched on Shyamla Hills beside the city’s other great museums, it packs 266-plus interactive exhibits, a sprawling outdoor Science Park, a planetarium and 3D shows into one campus — all built around the simple idea that science sticks when you get to push the button yourself.

Hands-on, on purpose

Inaugurated in 1995 and run by the National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture), it’s the only science centre in Madhya Pradesh. Indoors, themed galleries walk you through energy, light, mirrors and the atmosphere — the kind of place where an optical illusion or a spinning disc explains a principle better than any textbook.

The Science Park & planetarium

Outside, a 3-acre Science Park scatters 60-plus working displays across the lawns — pulleys you haul, a windmill, solar gadgets, sound and motion demos — so the learning spills into the open air. Add the planetarium (Taramandal), 3D science films, and a small dinosaur park, and you’ve got an easy two to three hours.

Practical bits

It’s open 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM daily (closed only on Holi and Diwali), with ₹30 general entry and small add-ons for the 3D show (₹20) and planetarium (₹10). Find it on Banganga Road, Shyamla Hills, about 5 km from New Market — a short auto or cab ride from anywhere central.

Verified June 2026 against the Regional Science Centre’s official site (rscbhopal.gov.in) and the National Council of Science Museums. Ticket prices and show timings can change — confirm on the day.
