We reached Pachmarhi and, without much of a plan, hired a local guide who mapped the afternoon on the spot. This episode is our first full day of sightseeing — a genuinely useful preview if you’re deciding what to fit into a day.
What we covered
Starting from Hotel Highland, we worked through:
- Handi Khoh — a deep, dramatic gorge in the forest
- Gupt Mahadev — a narrow cave shrine you enter single-file
- Bada Mahadev — a larger cave temple to Shiva
- Viewpoints — Green Valley, Priyadarshini and Rajendra Giri, each looking out over the Satpura valleys

Planning tip
A local guide is worth it in Pachmarhi — many points sit inside the Satpura Tiger Reserve buffer and the routes aren’t obvious. Wear proper shoes: several spots involve short climbs down and back up.
