Pachmarhi Day 3 — Satpura Tiger Reserve Safari
Watch on YouTube Pachmarhi Road Trip · Part 4

Our last morning began before dawn — an early jeep safari into the Satpura Tiger Reserve, the wild heart of the Pachmarhi region, before the long drive back to Bhopal.

What we covered

  • Safari entrance — the pre-dawn start from Hotel Highland to the gate
  • Neemghan — deep forest and grassland
  • Sher Nala — a stream crossing where big cats are often tracked

Then it was back down the hills to Bhopal, closing out a three-day trip.

Planning tip

The Satpura safari is a different experience from Kanha or Bandhavgarh — quieter, greener, and known as much for its walking and boat safaris as jeep drives. If you love this forest, we go deep into the same reserve on foot in our Churna, Satpura tiger-safari journal.

Frequently asked questions

Can you do a safari in Pachmarhi?
Yes — Pachmarhi sits on the edge of the Satpura Tiger Reserve, and an early-morning jeep safari through zones like Neemghan and Sher Nala is one of the best things to do on the trip.
What is the best time for a Satpura safari?
The early-morning slot is best — cooler air and far more active wildlife. Book ahead, and start before dawn from your Pachmarhi hotel to reach the safari gate on time.
